For the third year in a row, Richmond Raceway was home to the PWBA Tour Championship and for the second consecutive year, the Go Bowling 250, two staple events for the bowling industry during the year.
The 2019 PWBA Tour Championship was held inside the Old Dominion Building at Richmond Raceway, and Wednesday's knockout-style championship round was broadcast live on CBS Sports Network.
"This is beyond any of my wildest dreams," said O'Keefe, who won the 2017 Tour Championship. "To have a season like this - to win five titles, come back to Richmond Raceway, where I won my first major, and be able to win again, to be player of the year - it's mind boggling to me, and I'm so humbled and grateful."
Wednesday's victory also was amplified for O'Keefe as she celebrated the win with her husband, Bryan, on their 15th wedding anniversary.
Four lanes once again were specially installed inside the Old Dominion Building by QubicaAMF, the official supplier of bowling equipment for the 2019 PWBA Tour Championship. Once the PWBA Tour Championship wrapped up, the Old Dominion
Building was reset for “Fan Fun Friday”, a fan experience including Hyperbowling, appearances by the #00 Go Bowling Ford Mustang Driver Cole Custer and NBC Trackside Reporter Rutledge Wood, plus fans received bowling tips from the PWBA pros
themselves.
Go Bowling and Richmond Raceway paired up to host the “Show Us How You Roll” campsite contest which encouraged campers to deck their campsites in all things bowling for a chance to sit in the pit box of #00 Go Bowling driver Cole Custer
during the race. After the Go Bowling Brand Ambassadors toured all the campsites at the Richmond Raceway the winner of the contest was clear – Don and Darlene Prevish from Richmond, VA not only had a “strikingly” well decorated campsite
complete with a Cole Custer shrine display, but the happy couple brought along their seven Yorkies to boot. There is just no beating that!
Friday night, the Go Bowling 250 Xfinity race was staged and featured Stewart-Haas driver Cole Custer in the No. 00 Go Bowling Ford Mustang. Custer finished 3rd in the race as he continued his push in the NASCAR Xfinity Playoffs.
PWBA Tour Champion and racing enthusiast Shannon O’Keefe waved the green flag at the start of the race, and fellow PWBA star Dasha Kovalova was the honorary race starter, calling out the most famous words in racing – “Drivers Start Your Engines!”.
Chances are looking good for bowling and racing to again pair up in 2020 as Richmond Raceway has expressed interest in hosting the PWBA Tour Championship and the Go Bowling 250 next year.
